The very first British Dirt Track Championships will end its inaugural season where it began at the Oxford Stadium on Friday 14th October.
The M & S Truck Rentals British Solo Dirt Track Championships is being led by 9 points by Chatham based racer Dan Berwick who goes into this final round with 18 wins in a row around the Oxford Circuit. Young Ben Millichap lies in 2nd place of the championships, and has led Berwick on a couple of occasions but to no avail with Dan being able to pick him off each time. Millichap will be hoping to put this right and gain the extra points to take the title.
The evergreen Giles Dismore will be looking to secure the points to earn him an overall rostrum place finish. Dean Hillier, from Bournemouth who was stuck in traffic at the last round has pledged his intent to feature highly in this round and he too has had his nose in front of Berwick without being able to finish the job. Another Bournemouth based rider who made a decent debut in round 3 is Mike Cherrott and he will be a contender 2nd time out. Amateur speedway maestro Mike Gittings will be making his Dirt Track debut and his shale skills could see him become a challenger. Other riders were still to be confirmed as we went to press.
It will be a different format for the Quads with a team event being staged with sides representing Oxford and Reading. Feisty Welshman Ben Richmond will be the Captain of the home side while Quad legend John Elliot skippers the Reading team. Again Mini Bikes and Dirt Track MX classes will add to the spectacle with some names familiar to speedway and grasstrack supporters expected to take part.
Turnstiles open at 6pm with the first race taking place at 7pm. The Oxford Stadium offers great viewing from the terraces or from the Glass front Bar area with hot and cold refreshments on sale.
